In cities: all three do the job

In Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hue or Hoi An, all three carriers offer fast 4G and increasingly widespread 5G. For a city-only trip, any of them will do. Da Nang, a favourite with remote workers, enjoys excellent mobile connectivity on top of fast café wifi.

If your trip is limited to the big cities, the choice of network is secondary — focus instead on data volume and price.

Outside the cities: Viettel takes the lead

This is where it all plays out. As soon as you leave urban centres — terraced rice fields in the North, mountain passes, remote villages, long roads — the difference becomes obvious.

Viettel runs the densest network in the country and keeps a reliable signal where the others drop: the highlands around Sapa and Ha Giang, the Mekong Delta, coastal areas. Vinaphone and Mobifone can have limited or unstable coverage in deep valleys.
